What Boro fans can expect from Matt Crooks
Boro have wrapped up their fifth signing of the summer in the form of Rotherham United versatile Midfielder Matt Crooks on a 3-Year-Deal.
Crooks, formerly of Hartlepool United at one point, has plied his trade across the EFL over the last 11 seasons racking up over 200 games, scoring 36 goals and 8 assists.
One of Crooks's goals was scored against Middlesbrough last season when the Millers thrashed Middlesbrough at the Riverside 3-0.
But what can we expect from Boro's new boy? Well we spoke to Rotherham's New York Talk Podcast to find out more: All Millers fan love Crooksy. He is one of those players that give it all on the pitch. Which makes you an instant favourite at our club. You can see his class off the pitch as well, in 2019 his best friend Jordan Sinnot was tragically killed and he has since set up a charity in his friends name shipping football shirts to kids all around the world. On the pitch, he is extremely versatile. He can play as part of a 2 in the middle or as a 3. He can play as a box to box type and even played as a centre back when we were short on players. He is best in attacking areas, he can play as a 10 or even as a second striker. A 10 behind two strikers is his best position in my opinion. He is very good on the ball and due to his size not easily knocked off the ball. His only issue is consistency, during A run of games in January he was unplayable. But at the start of the season he was awful. Hopefully, with better players surrounding him this will help him. Would be disappointed to see him leave but I don’t think anyone at Rotherham United has any issues with him leaving to a championship club. I feel he has earned another shot at that level and if it all goes through as expected he leaves with the fans best wishes.
